File Transfer and Sharing

• LC supports a wide variety of file transfer protocols and tools, including FTP, NFT, HSI, SFTP, SCP, HTAR, Hopper, and give/take.

Green Data Oasis

• Green Data Oasis is a large data store on the unrestricted LLNL network.
• It can be used for sharing very large amounts of data with external collaborators.

Globus

• Globus is a file storage service with an endpoint in the LC green zone.
• It can be used for sharing very large amounts of data with external collaborators.

File Interchange Service (FIS)

• FIS is used to move files between unclassified and classified networks.

Purging

• Presently LC does not purge any of its file systems.
• Temporary file systems (e.g. /var/tmp and aliases /tmp and /usr/tmp) are ephemeral. Data in /var/tmp is cleared at the end of batch jobs.

Backups

• Home directories and several other LC file systems are backed up.
• Temporary file systems are not.
