We are excited to announce a major update to LaunchIT, Livermore Computing's self-service platform for provisioning persistent storage solutions. This release brings a few new features and enhancements for LC users in the CZ and RZ environments.
Highlights of this release
-
Object Storage Improvements:
- Rearchitected Object Storage:
- Object storage is now managed as a resource and provisioned via the catalog, similar to other persistent-data-storage solutions. User can find object storage under the VAST option on the catalog.
- Group Object Storage:
- Object Storage Resources are now enabled in group workspaces instead of being limited to just personal workspaces. This should permit more straightforward collaboration, allowing teams to easily access group resources.
- Vast Object Storage Allocations:
- Support for provisioning Vast object storage allocations has been added, enabling scalable storage for large datasets.
- Rearchitected Object Storage:
-
pgvector support
- New Resource:
- pgvector is now available as a Persistent Data Service options
- pgvector is a PostgreSQL extension for storing and searching vector embeddings, enabling AI/ML workflows that require semantic storage or simiarity search.
- How to use:
- Provision pgvector instances directly through the LaunchIT catalog, just as you would with the other services.
